Full disclosure here.

Have you ever battled depression? The dark, deep pit remains an ugly place. Dr. Michelle Bengtson understands. She’s been there.

You might recall Hope Prevails – the book. My review waits here.

Folks loved it and felt a need for more. Dr. B listened.

Open the front door and welcome Hope Prevails Bible Study inside. It’s a friend with much to share, many questions to offer.

A tool comes to mind when thinking of this Bible study. Dr. Bengtson offers questions, causing readers to consider their feelings as well as Scripture and impressions. She covers the meaning of depression as well as knowing one’s worth. Also included are soundtrack suggestions – a delight to a music lover’s ears. Music does something to soothe a soul, doesn’t it? How sweet to have lists with each chapter.

My favorite section arrives near the beginning. You Are Not Alone, chapter 2, brought a smile, because that’s one lie that danced in my own head when facing depression. The enemy loves nothing more than to single us solo, whispering the lie we’re alone.

Consider Hope Prevails Bible Study for church and personal study, gatherings with friends, and more. It’s available now from Christianbook.com and other locations where books are sold.

  1. I have battled depression since age 17. 40 years fighting this battle. This Bible Study sounds like it might offer the hope I desire to be set free. I love the idea of music which goes along with the chapters

    1. Marissa, I’m sorry to hear of the lengthy battle. Consider grabbing a copy of the book and the study (if you don’t win it here, of course.) In case you’re on Facebook, here’s a link you might find of interest: https://www.facebook.com/DrMichelleBengtson/
Father, thank You for Marissa. Thank You for creating her in Your likeness and image. Your work in her is good. Bring healing to Marissa’s mind and body. Expose the root of this depression. I pray it’s uprooted for good. Heal her like no other can. Open wide the pathway to peace. And may she successfully trod its way. In Jesus’ name, amen.

  2. Hi Kristi, I shared the post on FB. So agree that Dr. Michelle’s books will be a great help and encouragement for those going through depression or who know someone going through it. Thank you for your message!!

  3. Thank you for helping me transition from a season battling depression, anxiety, panic and agoraphobia to a place of joy, peace and hope. Your posts and book have ministered to me greatly. Blessings!

  4. Kristi,
It’s is so refreshing to come across this book. I have battled Depression and anxiety for many years. For someone to talk about it out loud and share the truth related to this disease is needed. Knowing someone else truly understands and shares with others is a blessing. I hope so many will reach for this book. I cannot wait to get my copy. The unseen internal battle is real, and so misunderstood.
