It was a fabulous workout, full of energy and exertion and much needed in the wake of a tedious day. A miracle in itself, the walk home even included a jog. That’s big news for this gal!
It was during this miraculous sprint of energy called a jog that I noticed a familiar sign. I had been running quite easily up to that point, but I found myself suddenly obeying, just as the sign commanded. I stopped…running that is, and I started walking instead. After all, the sign said to stop, right?
While chuckling to myself about this silly endeavor, it dawned on me that we allow this same situation to affect our spiritual walk. We see the outward “signs” that say, “Stop! You can’t do this.” We allow them to slow or literally stop our fruitful progress, as if these signs really have command over our spiritual walk. Just as the stop sign had no true authority over my stride, neither do the outward signs have authority over our spiritual walk and the fruit we bear. Only our True Vine, Jesus, and the Gardener, our Father, have this authority.
Leaving those stop signs behind and the silly hindrance they can be to our spiritual stride, press forth dear branches and bear that fruit you are called to bear. Remain in Him and He will definitely be faithful to remain in you. Those problems that are plaguing you today are all solved when we remain attached to Jesus, gathering nourishment for the fruit yet to be bore.
Be encouraged and changed today by His love and power.
He Is,
Kristi
