Imagine gripping a superhero tool in our hands, something long, slender, shiney and sharp. We swing the weapon with power and force, slicing the air back and forth.
Zink!
Zink!
Zink!
“Take that, you nasty darkness!”
We glare at our enemy, holding a stare that only victors gather.
Our feet-shoulder-width-apart stance is impressive. It speaks strength and confidence.
Nothing will move us.
My sword – your sword – and the Giver of them assure we have the upper hand in this battle.
We thrust our sword-like weapons into the air, our backs stretch tall. It’s a victory gesture.
Like a camera flash, the metal on each blade gleams its shine, glistening with a crisp and clean confidence.
Darkness, like a piece of paper, falls at our feet – sliced and cut to pieces. It has no ground to stand on, only listless, pointless places to fall.
This is you and I…
…with the Word of God.
We are warriors holding swords – the Word of God. And it’s powerful.
Do you ever confess scripture?
You know – take a scripture and insert your name or personalize it, just you talking to God? The above one hails from PS 108.
It’s a keeper.
Confessing scripture is like inserting yourself in the story above, swinging that weapon of godly warfare with might. Swing the sword mightily by reading it, saying it, or praying it to God just the way it is. Enjoy!

This is so helpful, Kristi! We don’t need to dream up the words or figure out the weapons … they’ve already been given to us.
Amen, girl!
Already given -yes!
Amen! We already have the only weapon we need!
Indeed.
Thanks for your encouraging Words, Kristi, straight from God’s Word!
You’re welcome, Karen. His words never fail. Isn’t that amazing?
LOVE this! Sharing on Facebook today. Thanks for the encouragement. I’ve started declaring scripture to myself (and to God and to the principalities???) and you’re right. It is powerful. Builds my faith like nothing else.
Power, power, power. Yes! Thanks for sharing, Betsy.
Wow! This motivated me more than ever to be more diligent about memorizing Scripture. It literally arms us! Thank you for your faithfulness to deliver this message!
Happy Wednesday!
Megs
Armed and ready ~ go get ’em, Megs. 😉 #goJesus
I love this! I have three pages of Scriptures, the paper worn thin and fragile, that I’ve prayed aloud for years now. God’s Word is powerful! Happy to be your neighbor at Lyli’s!
His Word nearly explodes with power, doesn’t it, Elizabeth? Thanks for stopping by.
Kristi I’ve never heard it call confessing scripture, but I love that and I do insert my name a lot. I love reciting 1 Corinthians 13 and inserting my name and I do that when my husband is performing a wedding service or when I need a slap in the face. Thanks for sharing.
