WORD17, Week 14
“Ask and it will be given you. Seek and you will find. Knock and it will be opened for you. Matt. 7:7 WEB
In this month’s verse, there are three verbs. Did you notice?
All are composed and overflowing with action when we put spiritual muscle behind them and cause them to make their move. There’s sweet, glorious, Spirit-filled power. But “we” must instigate the action. God’s part? He will answer.
Ask
Seek
Knock

Many of the commentaries and tools correlate this necessary action to prayer – persistent prayer. The word “persistent” gathers attention; it certainly did mine.
As we use our words, asking our Father in prayer for His guidance and direction, seeking His will and provision, things happen in the spiritual realm.
But how often do we “hang in there”? How persistent are we in prayer?
That’s our question to ponder and prayer to offer as we close today’s WORD17.
You are a good Father. Teach me to be persistent in prayer – to ask, seek, and knock. Where I have looked at a situation but failed to offer it to you, show me how to ask (even again), how to seek with diligence, and how to knock with fervency. Show me situations in my life that I can bring to You for the cause of Matthew 7:7. Thank You, Lord. I love You.
In Jesus’ name, amen.
God’s promises are so sweet and something we can surely hold on to.
