Some like physical gifts. For others, it’s time, a hug, or help around the house. (If you aren’t familiar with The 5 Love Languages, they’re quite helpful.)

What Is An Acceptable Mother’s Day Gift
An acceptable Mother’s Day gift does not have to cost money. It doesn’t have to be purchased at the store. My all-time favorite gift costs nothing but intentionality.
My husband was in the military and working on Mother’s Day. Our kids got along mostly, but fussing seemed to be hitting a peak, and I was tired. I requested a whole day without arguing. The kids obliged.
That request was so worth it.
Hearing them nudge each other to not argue was hilarious and worth a million dollars, but the peace from a day without contention was even better. My kids are now young adults, but we still laugh about that day.
Whether you have funds, creativity, or none, keep reading for gift ideas for this Mother’s Day.
Mothers Day Ideas
1. Time
It’s quite simple, yet often difficult to give. It’s time. Create coupons for tasks or simply show up and spend time together, whether around the table, in the living room, or on the go. Call daily or offer to help with a task. Moms often love the time and attention of their children.
2. Journal
A printable that’s available as a last-minute gift or downloaded days in advance. It offers space for journaling plus 3 Bible study templates, gratitude, and much more. Add a personal touch by binding it with your personal touch.

6. Christian Fiction Gift Ideas
Below are three Christian novels favored by many. The first listing was new in 2023, a book I devoured. (It may replace my longstanding Chas. Martin favorite.) The second, an evangelist in story, will likely become a timeless read bringing enjoyment to many. The last Christian book on the list adds a sweet, lightheartedness to the mix. Smiles, too.
All are worth the read and would make excellent gifts.
The Last Exchange
The Last Exchange By Charles Martin / Thomas Nelson When ex-Special Forces agent Pockets is hired as a bodyguard for movie star Joe Sue, he quickly learns there is a public and private side to her personality—which are incongruous. Very few people would notice when the bottom falls out for her, but he does. Just how far will he go for love? |
The Extraordinary Deaths of Mrs. Kip By Sara Brunsvold Aidyn Kelley is talented, ambitious, and ready for far more serious assignments than the “fluff pieces” she’s been getting as a cub reporter for the Kansas City Star. When she’s asked to write the obituary of an “unremarkable” septuagenarian who’s just entered hospice care, she balks. But spirited Clara Kip may teach her a thing or two! 368 pages, softcover from Revell. |
Dear Henry, Love Edith
By Becca Kinzer
Following her short, difficult marriage, widowed nurse Edith is done with love—even if she’s only in her thirties! Henry hesitatingly agrees to provide housing for an “old” nurse working nights. Never seeing each other, they exchange increasingly more personal notes. Is Henry too late when he discovers the brown-eyed beauty he keeps bumping into holds his heart? 384 pages, softcover from Tyndale.
7. Online Bible Resources
Wehther it’s Dwell Bible Audio App, Crosswalk, or Bible Study Tools, all have subscriber resources to champion the faith walk.
8. A Gift to Others
Some mothers find the best gifts are the ones they give to others. Consider missionaries and organizations like Bill & Lisa Bennett of CRU or Emma Huber of Mission Training International
9. A Note
Sometimes, a simple note with meaningful words speaks volumes.
10. Jewelry with Meaning
Whether you get mom a necklace, ring, or bracelet like the one below, jewelry often carries with it meaning and memories.
Mom Bracelet, Pearl and Crystal By Collectables America Pretty bracelet for mom fashioned from freshwater pearls and shimmering platinum crystals; finished with openwork Mom charm in stunning design, with dainty floating cross charm. 7.5′ bracelet with toggle clasp; sentiment card enclosed When I count my blessings I think of you.
