Do You Ever Run Here When Life Gets Hard?
Where to run when life grows hard – a loaded question?
Maybe.
Some run to the bottle, others to food.
A few of us run to blame or hide behind a wall of fear.
Others of us fall into a pit of dark, quiet emptiness, a place void of hope and, seemingly, help. (<— This plus the occassional freak out were my “go to’s.”)
But do we have to run, walk, or find ourselves in these cavities of protection? (Let’s call them cavities because they really aren’t protection. They simply eat away at that which is birthed to protect us – the enamel of Truth.)
No.
With Jesus, the past or the “norm” don’t form the future.
With God, something new forms. And we find a quiet peace amid the muck and mire of heavy times.
With a run to our Strong Tower, we find protection. And He, the Lord God Almighty, never ever ever EVER fails us.

But sometimes there’s a retraining necessary. When problems arise, we must purposefully choose a different reaction, a different path. After all, we serve a God of choice.
When our thoughts run straight to truth, it’s a run for the border of our Strong Tower.
Here’s an iBelieve.com piece I wrote about this very scenario.
Instead of sitting in a dark pit, thoughts of heaven spurred hope. Yes, I ran straight to heaven – at least my thoughts did.

Consider keeping heaven in view when life gets hard.
Consider it “retraining” or training in spiritual maturity.
Because when life gets hard, we need all the heaven we can get.

Praise Jesus.
Kristi, this you said –>’And we find a quiet peace amid the muck and mire of heavy times.’ This is a truth to remember and we can only find it as we head right to Him over and over and over til the storm has past.
And then find out we loved being there with Him so much that we continue to head to Him even when the clouds lift.
What grace.
Over and over and over – oh yes, Linda. Aren’t you glad He’s a 24/7 God?
Beautifully stated Kristi. Keep our eyes on Jesus. I definitely needed retraining to do so many years ago. Sometimes I still need a refresher;) Thank you for sharing these biblical insights. Have a fantastic weekend friend and may God continue to bless you and yours.
My guess is we all need a refresher from time to time, Horace. May God bless you!
Yes, it is a continuous retraining for me – a daily discipline:) And how wonderful that God is right there with us, helping us up every single time, His Word reminding us that He IS our strong tower. Thank you for this bright light of encouragement to start my morning!
